Based out of Taipei, Taiwan EVA Air serves 40 international destinations; including New York, Toronto, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver in North American, with its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. EVA Air recently announced with Boeing they would be a launch customer for the 787-10 series in 2018, furthering their international reach.
Known for painting their planes with the characters from Asia's most popular cartoon Hello Kitty, EVA Air's original intent to attract tourism from Japan has now become a popular theme recognized internationally. Yet it's the onboard product that has propelled their popularity. From the first flights in 1991, EVA Air has been a pioneer in premium passenger service, having offered enhanced seating and meal service with "Economy Deluxe" on international flights.
Today its business class is one of the most desired premium products flying in Asia. As a Star Alliance member reward travel on EVA Air is attainable and a great experience.
EVA Air Premium Class
Business Class - Royal Laurel Class
EVA Air offers two international business class products based on aircraft. Royal Laurel Class is the preferred class of service and comes on all 777-300ER aircraft. Seats are the popular Zodiac Cirrus in a reverse herringbone layout of 1x2x1, allowing for the desirable direct aisle access for all passengers. A generous 26 inches of width puts this in the top tier of business class seats on the market, and with 81 inches pitch it doesn't get much better than that. EVA has 23 777s in their fleet with either 38 or 39 Royal Laurel seats installed. Reward Flying reviewed this product and an immediate impression was how clean the cabin was. Turns out EVA Air was recently awarded World's Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness by Skytrax.
Business Class - Premium Laurel Class
Installed on their A330 aircraft and remaining Boeing 747s, business class seats are the Zodiac 7811 angle-flat seat at 170 degrees in a 2x2x2 configuration. Reasonably wide at 22 inches with 61 inches of pitch there are 24 seats on the A330-200, 30 on the A330-300 and 36 on the lower deck of their 747, which are scheduled to be retired soon. According to the EVA seating chart, newly acquired A330-300 aircraft have an extra inch of pitch at 62 and are angled towards the window with the middle seats angled to each other.
EVA Air allows you to order your meals on-line within 30 days of departure. Your on-line choices will even include dishes that won't be on the menu the day of your flight. Long haul flights typically have two meal services as well as mid-flight snacks such as the bowl of Taiwanese noodle soup shown here.
